Job Summary:
The Grace Abilities Ministry Coordinator will work alongside the Director of Special Needs to support, grow, and help lead the Grace Abilities ministry—our church's outreach to individuals with disabilities, from preschool through adulthood and into senior years. This person will help ensure that every individual is welcomed, included, and encouraged to grow in faith, using their God-given gifts to be a vital part of the church body.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Support
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing ministry programming for all ages (preschool through adult).
- Coordinate Sunday morning supports, including classroom coverage, buddies, and sensory-friendly spaces.
- Help manage and maintain schedules for volunteers and classrooms.
- Support the preparation of curriculum materials and visual or sensory supports.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child or adult’s involvement in the ministry.
- Help coordinate and attend family events, adult fellowship, and inclusive church-wide gatherings.
Volunteer Leadership & Training
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and encouragement of volunteers.
- Provide hands-on guidance for buddies, classroom leaders, and adult ministry leaders.
- Support ongoing training and development efforts to equip volunteers to serve individuals with a wide range of needs.
Spiritual Leadership & Inclusion
- Help foster a Christ-centered environment where individuals of all abilities can know Jesus, grow in faith, and feel a deep sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with the Director to adapt lessons, worship, and activities for different learning styles and support needs.
- Champion inclusion across all church ministries and help raise awareness of accessibility needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including a variety of ages and support needs.
- Ability to handle the physicality of working with special needs individuals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both adults and children.
- Ability to lead, encourage, and support volunteers with grace and clarity.
- Compassionate, flexible, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
Spiritual Qualifications:
- Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity.
- Commitment to serve in accordance with the church’s to be Biblical, Missional, Intentional, and Charitable in everything we do.
- Affirm and communicate doctrine consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 revision, and The Nashville Statement.
- Fully supportive of the decisions and loyal to the mission and leadership of the school and the church.
